Chicken soup recipe

Chicken soup is a simple yet nourishing dish that can be made with a few basic ingredients. Here are the steps to make a classic chicken soup:

  1. Start by sautéing chopped onions, carrots, and celery in a large pot with some oil or butter until the vegetables are softened.
  2. Add chopped chicken to the pot and cook for a few minutes until the chicken is lightly browned. You can use bone-in chicken pieces, boneless chicken breasts or thighs, or a combination of both. Remove the chicken from the pot and set it aside.
  3. Pour in chicken broth, enough to cover the vegetables and chicken. You can use store-bought or homemade chicken broth. Bring the broth to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  4. If desired, add in additional seasonings like salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and herbs like thyme, bay leaves, or rosemary.
  5. Return the chicken to the pot and let the soup simmer for 20-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
  6. Remove the chicken from the pot and shred or chop it into bite-sized pieces. Discard the bones and skin.
  7. Return the chicken to the pot and add cooked noodles, rice, or other preferred ingredients. Let them simmer in the soup until they are tender.
  8. Adjust the seasoning to taste, adding more salt or pepper if needed. You can also add some fresh lemon juice to brighten up the flavor.
  9. Serve the soup hot with some crusty bread on the side.

Chicken soup is a comforting and hearty dish that can be customized to your liking. You can add different vegetables, spices, or herbs to suit your taste preferences. It’s also a great way to use up leftover chicken and vegetables. Enjoy!
